NLP is a set of guiding principles and techniques that explore the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotions (programmes).
When you work with NLP, you learn specific skills and patterns necessary to make positive changes, create new choices, be more effective with others, break free of old habits, self-destructive patterns and behaviors, it enables you to notice and remove self-imposed limits and think more clearly about what it is you want and how to get it whilst remaining ecological to others.
NLP works with how we as humans think and experience the world and uses techniques for changing thoughts, beliefs and behaviours.
It can allow you to make real changes in the way you work and live and provide you with ways towards achieving your potential.
The History of NLP
NLP was initially created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in 1975 who began by developing models based on top communicators of the time. These ‘models' were derived from the studies of people who did things exquisitely well. Their goal was to discover why certain people produced excellence and then to create models to allow other people similar behaviour. Initially they studied the likes of Milton Erikson (an American psychiatrist specialising in clinical hypnosis and family therapy), Fritz Perls (a German psychiatrist and psychotherapist who coined the term 'Gestalt Therapy') and Virginia Satir (an American author and psychotherapist) and over the years many other have contributed to the growth of this field. From these models grew a host of techniques for rapidly and effectively changing thoughts, behaviours and beliefs that previously had limited ones development.
